About Erica

Erica Schabatka

I gained my bachelors in Psychology at Arizona State University and began my career working with children with autism as a paraprofessional on Oahu, Hawaii at various schools implementing applied behavioral analysis. This career ignited my passion to help and support individuals to the very best of my ability in any way possible. I moved to San Francisco, to further my education and focus more specifically on counseling.

I graduated with a Masters in Counseling Psychology and a Pupil Personnel Services credential from the University of San Francisco. I continue to counsel individuals with various cultures and backgrounds. I spent time working with children in various schools around the bay area, including a level 14 residential non-public school. I am certified in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) trauma informed care. For the past few years I have worked at Petaluma Learning and Guidance Center, a private practice, and in schools where I provide individual therapy for adults, children, and parents.

My specialties include working with the following: Children ages four and up, adults, military families, families of those who have been incarcerated, at-risk youth, and homelessness populations. I see people needing various help around:

  • Adolescent Struggles
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Gender Concerns
  • Suicidal Ideations
  • Trauma
  • Emotional Disturbances
  • Friendship and Social Skills
  • Grief
  • Self Esteem
  • Life Transitions
  • Physical/Emotional Abuse
  • Post Traumatic Stress Disorder

I offer compassion and understanding while helping you address and make sense of your most challenging life circumstances. Through use of various counseling techniques we will create short and long term goals while also implementing strategies for symptomatic relief.

In my free time I enjoy visiting local beaches and restaurants with my husband, two children and new puppy.
